it. so the jobs numbers probably helped slow the obama fall but now we move into another week people will be talking about biden, and then a couple of more with romney and obama. >> bill: yeah, i was surprised and impressed, i guess that obama proved -- so he didn't have a good night, we all know that, but i thought he bounced back pretty quickly the next day. he has been having a lot of fun with the big bird line. and it showed a lot of resilience, i thought, and as you point out the job numbers came on friday which gave him another little boost, cutting the impact of any romney bounce. >> yeah he has an incredible amount of fire and energy when it is his back up against the wall. >> bill: yeah. >> it's almost like he puts himself in positions like that so that he can get excited about politics again. he obviously didn't want to be on that stage, wednesday night. you could just tell he was like, god, 90 minutes. i'm just going to stand here for 90 minutes and let this guy say stuff, and then he sees that the entire nation is mocking him, and then he get
, president obama a week ago was leading by 19%. in ohio he is leading by women by considerable numbers. it is that constituency which is so critical. did you hear the woman, the word "woman" used at all during the debate last night? that was a measure not only of president obama's this engagement, but mitt romney not wanting to bring in up, and jim lehrer, i don't know what was going on. host: laura is a republican. hi, laura, you are on. caller: i wanted to say to katrina, if you want to talk about common sense policies, maybe you need to listen to rush limbaugh and maybe you need to really listen to what mr. romney said about this economy. if you are concerned about poverty, do you know that the number one group trapped in poverty is single female households? you need to look at stuff that the conservatives are saying because they care about the poor. they don't want people trapped in poverty. they don't want small businesses, which employs 60- 70% of the citizens in this country, taxed more. if you tax small business, they are not going to hire. don'tt know how you figure out what m
. the candidates are hitting the trail strong this week. both mitt romney and president obama will start the day off in virginia. the president then heads to oakland, ohio where early voting is already underway. and romney hosts a rally in st. petersburg, florida this evening. romney's challenge now is to prove that was the real mitt romney we saw at the debates. the confident asserttive romney we saw during the debate is not the romney we have grown used to over the last couple of months. romney has since stood by his 47% statement but now he is rolling it back. here is what he said yesterday. >> it's completely wrong. and i absolutely believe, however, that my life has shown they care about 100%. >> you might think that this new romney is nothing but an act. if you do, you are not alone. here is what the president had to say to a crowd of 30,000 people yesterday in madison, wisconsin. >> i met this very spirited fellow who claims to be mitt romney. but i know it couldn't have been mitt romney because the real mitt romney has been running around the country this past year pr
and others not criticism for week or two. probably longer. gives him a respite and there could be more questioning about obama's performance among democrats. in the pew study, what seeps in. coverage eventually seeps in and affects mood of swing voters. >> the question becomes, romney had a good night tonight. does that give him momentum where that changes the dynamics of the campaign and come in again the in next debate and build on that and give two more dominant performances? or, do we have the vp debate next week that changes the narrative once again? i think you can expect the president to come in stronger and crisper next time. the president is a fierce competitor. he does not like to lose. so i think we can all assume that he will go back and do many so more debate prep. >> what we'll see from the obama staff and surrogates in their appearances next 20 four hours push this back being a choice between two people. mitt romney moved it back more referendum on the president. we have the official obama spin. this is the literal party line, what they're going to be saying in their tv
